Body mass index is a value derived from the weight and height of a person. The BMI is defined as body mass divided by the body height. Body mass index is a scientific method calculating how much your body should weight, based on your height. The BMI does not measure fat. BMI is a screening tool which tells whether a person is overweight, underweight or a healthy weight according to their height.


World health organisation ( WHO ) divided BMi in categories and tells that BMI less than 18.5 indicates underweight and it means health problems, an eating disorder or not proper malnutrition leads to this. While BMI equal or greater than 25 indicates overweight and above 30 is regards obese. BMI between 19 to 24 indicates healthy lifestyle.
